Two men from West Hartford – Charles Horwich, 17, and Max Horwich, 20 – paid $35 fines last week for disturbing the peace during a Bridgeport circus in October, according to a story in today’s Connecticut Post.
The men were among a small group tghat tried to disrupt a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Arena at Harbor Yard in a bid to defend the rights of animals.
The protesters, the paper said, were from the Darien-based Friends of Animals and the Animal Protection Institute and the New Haven-based Animal Rights Front.
I don’t know either of the young Horwich men, but they seem to feel quite deeply about this issue and they appear to have acted in a non-violent way to try to correct what they perceive as an injustice. They may be right.
