The town’s going crazy, I’m telling you.
Here’s a much-appreciated notice the town emailed about the library construction:
The renovation and expansion is on schedule at the Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main Street. Photos are available at:http://www.westhartfordlibrary.org/construction/ There is a YouTube video of the new construction at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5Wyjoa264U The library will reopen in the fall. Demolition and abatement projects have been completed, and the addition on the north side of the building is now visible. The south addition has now begun. At the same time, interior work has begun to mesh the older with the newer portions of the building.
** An additional 17,000 square feet will be added to the building, increasing the library’s size to almost 60,000 square feet.
** The children’s area will more than double, with expanded space for preschoolers, programs and materials.
** The number of computers will more than double with the addition of a computer training lab.
** Accessible elevators, entrances and rest rooms will bring all public areas of the building into compliance with “The Americans with Disabilities Act.”
** A safe and comfortable teen room will stimulate and educate our 21st century students.
** A new community meeting space seating up to 120 people, plus a smaller meeting room for groups of up to 24 people.
