West Hartford, 1956

From  an Aug. 19th Bloomberg News piece by Al Hunt, about U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd:
Dodd, the son of a senator and himself a lifelong politician, exudes an easy charm and an engaging humor. He’s a natural campaigner who loves to meet and talk to voters.
After a recent event in Decorah, Iowa, he wandered around a Nordic Day [...]

Mansion on a Hill

It’s hard to believe that West Hartford allows this sort of monstrosity.
Here’s what Arnold Chase, a good man, is building atop Avon Mountain, according to the Hartford Courant’s story today:
Building plans filed at town hall in West Hartford offer room-by-room details of the abode, which has two large “basement” levels and is, therefore, mostly underground.

Take that, Mr. Frosty!

From the latest West Hartford News:
In a lighter moment during this week’s meeting, Town Councilor Chuck Coursey reported that he and Mayor Scott Slifka met with the owner of Mr. Frosty Ice Cream, the local ice cream truck company, and requested that the volume of the music be turned down.
“The music is too loud,” said [...]

What’s going on in town?

Timeline fuzzy on Cheshire killings

One of the most perplexing aspects of the Petit murders in Cheshire is the seemingly slow response of local police.
Part of the reason there’s such rampant speculation that the police botched the job – and perhaps lost the chance to save three lives – is that authorities are inexcusably withholding key information, including 911 calls, [...]

So what are we to make of the CMT scores?

There are so many numbers to take into account that it’s hard to get a real sense of what it all means.
Note: The original heading said “CAPT scores” by mistake but it is now fixed. Sorry for the error. I need to stop rushing these entries! - whdad

Judge says no to dogs

Walbridge Road dog lover Faith Kilburn, who has 21 Shih Tzu dogs in her home, lost her appeal of a town order requiring her to get rid of nearly all of them, according to a story in today’s Hartford Courant.
Kilburn has 20 days to appeal — which she’ll no doubt do — and then the town [...]
